Inspect Related Components - Before installing the new kit, inspect the connecting rod, crankshaft bearings, and cylinder head for any signs of wear or damage. Clean Surfaces - Thoroughly clean the cylinder and crankcase mating surfaces. Remove any old gasket material or debris.
Install the piston onto the connecting rod using the new piston pin and circlips. Ensure the piston orientation mark faces the correct direction (refer to your Yamaha service manual). Install the New Cylinder - Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the cylinder bore and piston rings. Carefully slide the new cylinder over the piston, ensuring the rings do not bind or break. Use a ring compressor if needed.
Install Gaskets - Install a new base gasket between the crankcase and cylinder, and a new cylinder head gasket between the cylinder and cylinder head. Refill Oil - Refill the engine with the recommended type and quantity of oil. Break-In Period - After installation, follow a proper break-in procedure. Avoid full-throttle operation for the first few hundred kilometers to allow the new piston rings to seat properly.
Vary the engine speed during the break-in period.
